‘ The Atmosphere is Wide Open’
Friday 15th March 2019
6.00pm - 8.00pm
The opening event for Atmosphere explores the relationship between personal space and human interaction, and how the coexistence of the two is effected by the atmosphere of a space. Through an array of immersive experiences and performance art, the audience will embark upon a journey of reconnecting mind to body, and in turn to community, through an exploration of the boundaries between personal and social space.
The focal point of the evening will be an interpretative performance by a local contact improvisation group. An intuitive and meditational practice, Contact Improvisation is a process of fine tuning the senses so as to recognise the subtle impulses in oneself and others, where dancers strive to meet the constantly changing physical reality with appropriate placement and energy. The performance piece aims to artistically express the juxtaposing nature of tension and fluidity that exists within, and between, human beings; and the ways in which we can evolve our sharing economy through more mutually supportive community spaces that are conducive to both individual wellbeing and human connectedness.
6.00pm – Drinks and nibbles sponsored by Bodriggy Brewers.
7.00pm – An immersive Contact Improvisation dance performance.
7.30pm – Goody bags and closing.
